Egyptian Goddesses Operetta

Act 10 – Seshat (Safkhet, Sesat, Seshet, Sesheta)

Stage Summary of Act 10

Two segments:

1.Pyramid Building Dance:

– Seshat entering the empty stage seems to be writing everything with a pen – writing in air.

– A group of 6 female builders arrives and listens/watches her telling them what to do. They start measuring and building.

– We have two options OR we can do both of them:

Option 1: Dancers bring blocks to build a pyramid.

Option 2: Dancers create a spatial human pyramid standing on top of each other.

– As they are creating a pyramid shape, Thoth enters the stage holding a pen and writing on a tablet– recording the work. Seshat continues writing in the air.

– Seshat and Thoth move close to each other, away from the 6 dancers

– Shine the light only on Seshat and Thoth for a few seconds

Dark screen and silence

2.The Dual Seshat and Thoth Dance:

– Lights are back on the stage.

– Seshat is facing Thoth – both in each’s typical writing modes[in air AND on a tablet].

– They move towards each other – dancing separately and together – she begins while he is waiting – then he begins writing on paper. They perform together emphasizing learning from memory[writing in air] and recording[writing on tablet].

– Stage goes dark.
